At Flores Eye Care Clinic the use of advanced medical diagnostic technologies aid us in providing our patients with the best eye care possible. Below you will find a brief list of some of the equipment and procedures used to assist us in providing the level of care you expect.

Procedures

OCT – Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an optical imaging technique that provides high resolution, cross-sectional, in vivo measurements of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL). This test is the latest in technology for diagnosing glaucoma, macular degeneration, and many retinal problems.

VISUAL FIELDS - is an eye examination that can detect dysfunction in central and peripheral vision which may be caused by various medical conditions such as glaucoma, stroke, brain tumors or other neurological deficits.

TOPOGRAPHY - is a non-invasive medical imaging technique for mapping the surface curvature of the cornea, the outer structure of the eye.

VEP -  (Visual Evoked Potential) VEPs are used primarily to measure the functional integrity of the visual pathways from retina via the optic nerves to the visual cortex of the brain.  VEPs better quantify functional integrity of the optic pathways than scanning techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

ERG - (Electroretinography) is an eye test used to detect abnormal function of the retina (the light-detecting portion of the eye).

BSCAN - ultrasonography is an important adjuvant for the clinical assessment of various ocular and orbital diseases.

ECC -(Endothelium Cell Count) counts the number of cells within the corneal endothelium which is a single layer of cells on the inner surface of the cornea.

Equipment

OCT Cirrus/Stratus Retinal Scanner - This is a laser retinal scanner useful for high resolution scans of the back of the eye including the macula, retina and optic nerve.  The OCT allows advanced diagnosis and treatment of macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal disease and eye tumors.

HFA Visual Field Analyzer - This technology allows for accurate assessment of neurological conditions such as stroke, brain tumors and vision disorders such as glaucoma.  It accurately evaluates for central and peripheral visual field loss.

Konan Specular Microscope - This microscope provides a corneal cell count and high resolution corneal evaluation for advanced diagnosis of corneal disorders such as fuch’s dystrophy, corneal edema and lens implant complications.
